Man Who Punched Woman In Midtown Subway Arrested, Police Say
The man is facing charges for randomly punching a woman in the Port Authority subway station.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A man who randomly punched a woman in a Midtown subway station is facing charges, police said.
Carl Louis, a 36-year-old Queens resident, was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree assault, police said. Louis is accused of hitting a woman in the face after she accidentally bumped into him in the Port Authority subway station.
Louis was standing by the turnstiles of the West 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue subway station when a woman bumped into him while trying to enter the subway, police said. After the nudge, Louis turned around and punched the woman in the face, police said. The woman was not looking in the direction of Louis, and the hit took her by surprise, according to NYPD video of the assault.

The accused puncher fled the scene by entering the subway station after a witness opened the gate to check on the injured woman, police said.
The victim suffered lacerations to her face and was treated at a nearby hospital, police said.
