MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Polls have closed in New York City and votes are being counted, including for the 27th State Senate District general election, where Brad Hoylman became an automatic winner after running unopposed.

Hoylman, 55, lives in Greenwich Village, and has served in the legislature since 2013, representing much of the West and East Village, Chelsea, Midtown, Hell's Kitchen, and part of the Upper West Side.

He may not serve out the entirety of his fifth term, however, if he is elected Manhattan Borough President next year — currently, Hoylman is one of five candidates in the 2021 race.
