Midtown Fires Break Out Within Minutes Of Each Other, FDNY Says
Fires were reported in buildings on West 35th and West 48th streets Wednesday afternoon.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Two fires broke out Wednesday afternoon in Midtown within a span of 15 minutes, an FDNY spokesman said. Firefighters battled blazes inside buildings on West 34th Street and West 48th Street shortly after 12:30 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said.
The first report of a fire came in at 12:31 for a four-story, mixed-use building at 210 W. 35th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues. When firefighters arrived on the scene they noticed flames in the building's top floor, an FDNY spokesman said.
Sixty firefighters brought the fire under control just after 1 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

At 12:45 a second fire was reported blocks away at 58 W. 48th St. between Fifth and Sixth avenues, an FDNY spokesman. A fire that started in a commercial kitchen on the first floor spread through the building's duct work to the second floor, fire officials said.
The West 48th Street fire was placed under control by 2:39 p.m., fire officials said.

No injuries were reported for either fire, an FDNY spokesman said.
