Police Seek Suspect In Assault On Traffic Cop In Midtown
Police asked for help identifying a bicyclist accused of punching a traffic cop in the throat after he collided with the officer's car door.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Police appealed to the public on Tuesday for help identifying a man accused of assaulting a traffic cop in Midtown last week.
Around 1:50 p.m. Thursday in front of 625 Madison Ave., near 59th Street, an on-duty NYPD Traffic Enforcement officer was opening the driver's side door of his parked department car when a male bicyclist drove in to the door, police said.
The man then punched the 45-year-old officer in the throat and fled on his bicycle, according to police. The officer suffered from neck pain and was treated at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

Police described the suspect as a male with a medium complexion, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 180 pounds, last seen wearing a blue face mask, a black hooded sweatshirt with a PUMA logo, dark pants and black sneakers.
