Shirtless Man Pulled From Midtown Hotel Air Duct, Report Says

The man, who police described as emotionally disturbed, climbed into an air duct to avoid hotel employees.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — An emotionally disturbed man was pulled from an air duct at a Midtown Manhattan hotel early Wednesday morning after climbing into the tight space to avoid hotel employees, the New York Post first reported.

The man walked into the Renaissance Hotel on West 35th Street and Seventh Avenue around 5 a.m. Wednesday morning without a shirt on and quickly began causing a disturbance, cops told the Post. When employees attempted to remove the man from the hotel he avoided them and somehow crawled up an air duct in a drop ceiling, according to the report.

While crawling through the air duct the man lit one of his shoes on fire, the Post reported. Eventually police arrived at the scene and removed the man from the tight space.
