Smoke At Canal Street Forces Subway Delays
New York City Subway is warning of delays as firefighters investigate reports of smoke in the Canal Street area.
LOWER MANHATTAN, NY — New York City Firefighters were investigating reports of smoke coming from the subway at Canal Street Saturday afternoon, prompting trains to bypass the stop.
According to the New York City Subway, all trains are bypassing Canal Street for the time being as of 4 p.m. Saturday. Residents are advised to expect significant delays.
UPDATE - Manhattan-bound J trains will end at Delancey St-Essex St. Expect significant delays in J train service in both directions. Southbound N and Q trains are arriving on the upper level at Canal St and making local R train stops from Canal St to DeKalb Av.

At this time, all trains are bypassing Canal St in both directions while FDNY investigates reports of smoke near Canal St. There is no J train service in either direction south of Essex St. Customers are advised to use nearby R service at City Hall or 6 service at Spring St.
