VIDEO: Thief Jumps Into Grand Central Subway Tracks, Police Say
A man fled pursuit by jumping into the tracks and running down a subway tunnel at Grand Central Station.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A thief made a daring escape into a Grand Central Station subway tunnel in order to flee good samaritans trying to catch the purse snatcher, police told Patch. The NYPD released video footage of the getaway Thursday, showing the man leap into the tracks with little regard for his own personal safety.
On Saturday June 24 a man approached a 44-year-old woman on a subway platform at Grand Central Station and grabbed her purse, police said. A few people who witnessed the robbery attempted to catch the man, which led to a full-on chase down the subway platform, police said.
Just when it appeared the robber had reached a dead end he jumped down into the platform and ran down the tunnel to his freedom, police said.
