Woman, 73, Dies After Being Hit By Car Near Columbus Circle
Police identified the woman killed by a driver pulling out of the Time Warner Center parking garage last weekend.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A woman died after she was hit by a driver pulling out of a garage at the Time Warner Center on Saturday, police said Friday.
The crash happened around 2:10 p.m. Saturday, when the woman was walking along West 58th Street near Eighth Avenue.
The driver, a 31-year-old man, was pulling his Honda minivan out of the underground garage when he hit the victim in the street, causing her to fall backward and hit her head on the pavement, police said.

Police identified her as 73-year-old Kathie Coblentz. She lived on the same block, feet away from where the crash happened.
Initially conscious and alert but suffering from severe head trauma, Coblentz was brought to Mount Sinai Saint Luke's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver stayed at the scene and has not been charged, although an investigation is ongoing, police said.
Since 2017, at least six pedestrians have been injured in crashes on West 58th Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues, according to the city's Vision Zero data.
