Young Actors in 'THE HUNDRED DRESSES' to Collect 100 Dresses
Young actors have made it their goal to collect 100 dresses while performing in a NYC Premiere production of 'The Hundred Dresses'.
A group of professional young performers have made it their goal to collect 100 dresses to donate to those in need. Inspiration struck while rehearsing for their roles in The Hundred Dresses, which plays Oct 13-23 in NYC.
Eleanor Estes' 1945 Newbery Honor tells the story of Wanda Petronski, a Polish girl in a Connecticut school who is ridiculed by her classmates for claiming she has one hundred dresses, when she only has one faded blue dress. This timeless tale addresses the hurt inflicted by teasing and the painful consequences for bystanders who fail to act courageously, when they have the power to make a change.
With seating on three sides of the audience, this unique theater experience will immerse and engage audiences of all ages in a story about peer pressure, tolerance, fitting in, creativity, and imagination. Audiences will also have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A & photos after the performance with the cast, where they can drop off their new or lightly-used dress donations.
