70-Year-Old Man Killed in Miller Place House Fire
The fire started late Thursday night, police say.

MILLER PLACE, NY - A 70-year-old man was killed in a house fire in Miller Place late Thursday night, Suffolk Police said.
According to police, Sixth Precinct police officers responded to a home located at 106 Parkside Ave. after a 911 caller reported a fire at 11:50 p.m. Members of the Miller Place Fire Department responded, forced entry into the home and removed a man who was inside.
The man was transported by the Miller Place Fire Department to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson where he was pronounced dead. The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.

Firefighters from the Rocky Point, Sound Beach, Mount Sinai and Middle Island Fire Departments also helped extinguish the fire.
Following a preliminary investigation, detectives believe the fire is non-criminal in nature, police said.
