Accolades for Rocky Point Scientific Stars

Elementary school students impress at Brookhaven National Lab Science Fair.

Frank J. Carasiti Elementary School first-grader Jennifer Tiskowitz was named a first place winner at the 2015 Brookhaven National Lab Science Fair for her project “Keep My Craft Colorful.”

Jennifer’s project examined the effect several common household items have on a colorful craft left in the sun. Her experiment noted that Pledge protected the item best when left to the elements for six days.

In addition, FJC second-grader Caiden Palank and Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School fourth-grader Mikayla Minton won honorable mention in their respective categories. Caiden’s project was titled “Sock Science” and focused on which sock materials kept feet the warmest. Mikayla’s project was title “Bath or Shower” and focused on which saved more water.
