HAUPPAUGE, NY – Carolina Hurricanes goalie and Stanley Cup champion Brandon Bussi, a Miller Place grad and Sound Beach native, is set to be welcomed home to Long Island on Wednesday at a special gathering at Rinx in Hauppauge on Wednesday, Suffolk County officials said.
The day will be proclaimed "Brandon Bussi Day" to recognize the championship in a welcome home celebration. The Stanley Cup will be available after the ceremony for the public to take photos.
Bussi chose to spend his day with the Stanley Cup at the ice rink where he first put on goalie equipment. He played a pivotal role in Carolina winning the cup in June, as he shut out the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup's final.
County Executive Ed Romaine will kick off the ceremony at 10:15 a.m.
