ROCKY POINT, NY — Councilwoman Jane Bonner joined fellow parishioners and community members on Sunday as Father Collins Adutwum was installed as the new pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Rocky Point.
Father Collins, who began his pastorate in June, brings with him a rich background in pastoral ministry, academic achievement, and a deep commitment to serving the community.
Born and raised in Ghana, he completed his seminary formation in New York and was ordained to the priesthood on July 26. His ministry has included assignments at St. Rosalie's Church in Hampton Bays, St. Rose of Lima Church in
Massapequa, St. Philip Neri Church in Northport, and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs' Church in Centerport.
Bishop John Barres, Bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, presided over the installation mass and formally installed Father Collins as pastor. His presence highlighted the importance of the moment and reflected the Diocese's support as Father Collins begins his ministry in Rocky Point, according to town officials.
During the installation, Councilwoman Jane Bonner presented Father Collins with an official proclamation, "recognizing his dedication, his accomplishments, and his commitment to entering this new pastoral role with humility, gratitude, and an open heart,"town officials said.
"Father Collins brings not only an impressive depth of experience, but a heart for service that resonates deeply with the spirit of Rocky Point," she said. "We are grateful to welcome him as he begins this meaningful new chapter with our community."
In a letter shared earlier with his parishioners, Father Collins expressed his excitement to begin this journey
with the people of St. Anthony's, "emphasizing his hope to walk with them in faith, to listen, to learn, and to
continue building upon the strong foundation already present in the parish," officials said.
The Rocky Point community looks forward to the leadership, compassion, and spiritual guidance Father Collins
brings as he begins this next chapter of ministry, according to officials.
