A different way to teach, an effective way to learn. That was the motivation behind a science lesson for students in Rocky Point Middle School. Science teacher Elicia Katsapis tasked her eighth grade students to build models based on the human body. The fun and inventive lesson turned creative when they produced a written portfolio and then built their projects with amusement park themes, some that included working mousetrap-like roller coasters. The students presented their works to one another and showcased them in the classroom with names like Digestive Dropper and Infectious Invaders.
