MILLER PLACE, NEW YORK (APRIL 2023) — Mr. Daniel Cuoco, a Custodian at the Andrew Muller Primary School, was in the cafeteria during the second-grade lunch period, when he noticed a student in distress. He quickly approached the student and recognized the student was choking and then performed the Heimlich maneuver. His efforts were successful, and the student’s airway passage was cleared. Prior to working at Miller Place, Mr. Cuoco attended school to become a Medical Assistant and he recently took part in the District’s Wellness Program and volunteered to be CPR certified.

Mr. Seth Lipshie stated, “We are very proud to have a person of Mr. Cuoco’s character as a staff member of the Miller Place School District and the Andrew Muller Primary School family.”

Mr. Cuoco was honored by the Board of Education at the March 29, 2023 Board of Education meeting. The student and his family attended the meeting to thank him publicly.
