They received the much-anticipated envelope on Jan. 24, with all of the details from the program’s headquarters – the Hudson Valley’s Dutch Hollow Farm. In true JAE fashion, Mrs. Pagnotta and her students decided to have a gender reveal party to cast their vote. Students and staff arrived at school dressed in pink or blue and some even brought in extra decorations for the festive event. They decorated an easel with “Is it a girl? Is it a boy?” with sticky notes in the hallway and invited staff members to include their predictions as well. Teacher Mrs. Annemarie Oliveto secretly filled a balloon with the colored confetti so that even Mrs. Pagnotta would not know the gender and kept quiet until the party.
“I’m happy to announce that it’s a – GIRL,” Mrs. Pagnotta said of Penny, the brown-eyed beauty that will certainly enhance some classroom lessons as the students receive updates, including height, weight, photos and videos from the host farm.
