Beanberry Caffe: A Different Kind Of Coffee Place
A super relaxed atmosphere with weekly entertainment in Miller Place
The coffee house has become the quintessential gathering place for social interaction, and in Miller Place has all the cosiness and charm one looks for in a cafe. It is a one of a kind locale with none of the trappings of the big chain coffee purveyors.
Jen Tarulli, the owner and Miller Place resident, opened the doors in April 2010.
"Jen was going for a homey, inviting place," said store manager Carolanne Higgins, "some place comfortable where you could get a cup of coffee or tea, have a freshly made wrap, great pizza or one of her homemade desserts."
Vincent Simione, an investment trader who spent 25 years on Wall Street, is a regular.
"I now do my own thing," Simione said. "I come here for the atmosphere. They have great Wi-Fi, the place is comfortable, they have good coffee, great salads, the food is just really good."
Sitting at a table outside was Nicole Poveromo of Rocky Point, a graduate of FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology).

"I spend half the week in the city, but I love it out here," she said. "I'm always looking for new places to meet new people."
In September, Higgins brought in the first musical duo to entertain patrons; that was the beginning of the Friday night music lineups and open mic nights at the cafe.
"We seek out local talent, we have musicians that have played here on their own and now we have a group of women who play separately, but are coming in July to play together," she said. "It should be fun."
Beanberry has recently added a nice selection of beer and wine as well.

"We brought in beer and wine so people can listen to music without having to deal with the bar scene," Higgins said. "Our most popular wines are a McManis Merlot, Four Vines Naked Chardonnay and Chocolate Shot."
To whet your appetite there is a menu of hot tapas (small plates); among them quesidillas, mini pizzas and spring rolls.
Every Wed. at 6:30 p.m. Pschyic Marie is available for readings.
This Friday night at 8 p.m. the cafe is hosting a comedy night. M.C. Alan Streisfeld will be bringing at least eight comics.
According to management, a Thursday trivia night is in the works.
So, if you're looking for some local entertainment, reasonable prices and a comfortable setting, and if you're in the mood for a Cinnamon Bun Latte, a specialty Mighty Leaf tea or an Italian Creme soda, Beanberry Caffe may be just what you are looking for.
