Bites Nearby: Creative American Fare at Brian Scotts
Local New American restaurant delivers creative American fare in a historic house dating back to 1824.
Overview: Opened in 2008 by chef Brian Burner (formerly of Blackwells in Wading River), is a charming, date-worthy spot with a creative menu.
Appetizers: Many of the appetizers are classics -- but with a twist. Wings are prepared in a Thai Style with Cusabi Dressing ($12) while Fried Calamari ($12) is served with smoked paprika aoli rather than the standard marinara sauce. You'll also find Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail ($15), Pan-Seared Maryland Crab Cake with Firecracker Slaw ($12) and Uncle Brian's Seafood chowder ($7).
All dinner entrees are served with a house salad, but other salads are available as well, including Classic Caesar ($7), Warm Spinach with Sliced Mushrooms, Applewood Bacon, Chopped Egg, Red Onion and Sweet Potato Croutons ($8) and a Wedge Salad with Bacon, Blue cheese and Red Onion ($8).
