Join the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe for METAL for TESLA Recycling Day, a community recycling event held in celebration of Earth Day. Recycled materials help fund the transformation of Wardenclyffe into a future science center and museum, while helping reduce waste and conserve valuable resources.
Bring your unwanted metal items and turn them into support for science, sustainability, and the preservation of Tesla’s legacy.
Date: Saturday, April 18 
Time:&nbsp;9:00 AM – 3:00 PM 
Location: Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe, Shoreham, NY
Accepted items include vehicles, car parts, appliances, electronics (no TVs or computer monitors), and other items that are 75% or more metal.
Since launching the METAL for TESLA program in 2013, more than 509,000 pounds of metal have been recycled to support the restoration of the Wardenclyffe site.

Inspired by the bold curiosity of Nikola Tesla, whose groundbreaking ideas once sparked discovery at Wardenclyffe, this lively event celebrates big questions, new technologies, and the joy of learning something unexpected.
Hosted by Richard Jordan, the evening features brilliantly nerdy guest speakers sharing short talks and lively conversations that blend science, storytelling, and humor. Together, they’ll explore discoveries shaping our world—from robots and AI to lasers, particle beams, outer space, and beyond.
Then, put your brainpower to the test as the night wraps up with a science and tech trivia competition inspired by our guest speakers, with prizes for the winners.
Presented in collaboration with Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe and Blue Point Brewery, Science Pub brings together great minds, great conversations, and great drinks while supporting the mission to restore Nikola Tesla’s last remaining laboratory.

<h3>Sean Tvelia</h3>
Professor of Geology and Chair of the Department of Physical Sciences at Suffolk County Community College, Sean Tvelia studies how glaciers shaped Long Island and its geologic history. His work spans NSF-funded research programs, collaborations with major universities, and local preservation efforts protecting Indigenous cultural sites. He is also a founding board member of Hamptons Observatory, bringing world-class science education to the public.

<h3>Jillian Bellovary</h3>
Associate Professor at CUNY Queensborough Community College and founder of the CUNY Master’s in Astrophysics program, Jillian Bellovary is a leading researcher in black hole formation and evolution. A Research Associate at American Museum of Natural History, she combines cutting-edge cosmological simulations with a passion for science communication. Known for her curiosity (and knitting during talks), she brings both insight and personality to astrophysics.

<h3>Matthew Pappas</h3>
Associate Professor of Astronomy at Suffolk County Community College, Matthew Pappas has spent over 25 years advancing astronomy education and research. His work includes collaborations with NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and Caltech. A dedicated educator, he brings astronomy to life through community outreach, public observing events, and programs for students of all ages.

<h2>About the Host: Richard Jordan</h2>
Expect a night of smart, fast-moving, and funny science conversations led by Richard Jordan.
A New York–based actor, producer, and host, Richard has appeared in comedic roles on TIRES (Netflix), The Chair Company (HBO), and national campaigns for brands like DraftKings and Texas Pete. His background in live entertainment spans from hosting daily shows at Club Med to producing one of the earliest online TV series, Vidocity.
At Science Pub, he’ll be asking the questions you’re probably thinking—keeping the energy high and making complex ideas approachable and fun.
