Friends Of St. Patrick Pass Sash To Bonner, Honor Scholarship Recipient

MOUNT SINAI, NY — Irish eyes were smiling at the St. Friends of St. Patrick's annual dinner dance at the Moose Lodge in Mount Sinai on Saturday.

Brookhaven Town Councilwoman Jane Bonner was formally presented by the Friends of St. Patrick with the sash that she will wear heading up the Miller Place-Rocky Point St. Patrick's Day Parade as grand marshal on March 15.

Bonner said she was deeply honored to serve as grand marshal.

“The Friends of St Patrick do an incredible job preserving and celebrating this important tradition," she said. "It was a wonderful evening, and I am grateful to be part of such a meaningful event."

Rocky Point High School senior Justine Lang, winner of the organization's essay contest, was recognized with a $1,000 scholarship. She was also presented with a proclamation and a certificate of congratulations in recognition of her accomplishment.

The event was also attended by Assemb. Jodi Giglio, County Executive Ed Romaine,
Town Supervisor Dan Panico, Receiver of Taxes Louis Marcoccia, and U.S. Rep. Nick LaLota.
