Legislator Anker Honors Rocky Point Fire Department Members

Legislator Anker had the pleasure of honoring local firemen and women for their community efforts.

Rocky Point, NY—Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker attended the Rocky Point Fire Department’s monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 14th, at the King Road firehouse. At the meeting, Legislator Anker had the pleasure of honoring local firemen and women for their community efforts. She presented proclamations to the Rocky Point Fire Department 9/11 Memorial Committee, the Rocky Point Junior Firefighters and Scott Peterson, who was named Suffolk County Fireman of the Year for the 6th Legislative District.

“It is an honor to recognize these brave men and women of Rocky Point for their service,” said Legislator Anker. “Those honored have gone above and beyond to serve the community and I am truly grateful for their dedication.”

The 9/11 Memorial Committee established the 9/11 Memorial located at the corner of Tesla Street and Route 25A in Shoreham. The committee includes: Joseph A. Titone, Steve Tumulty, Walter Birney, Robert Minton, David M. Singer, Tom LeDeoux, Rob Bentivegna, Terry McCarrick, Linda Parsons, Iris Strong, Theresa Lattman, Kevin Wood and Vincent Lettieri.

Scott Peterson, a volunteer EMT for Rocky Point, was named Suffolk County Firemen of the Year for the 6th Legislative District. The Suffolk County Legislature’s Recognition Program for Firefighter and EMS Personnel allows each Legislator to formally nominate one person in his or her district for their outstanding service to the community. Scott was nominated because of his quick and heroic actions. Recently, Scott was off duty and working at a local Home Depot when a patron became unconscious. Scott used CPR to resuscitate the patron and saved his life.
