Local Places Open on Christmas Day

On a day where even places like McDonald's and Walmart close, here's a guide to finding the few businesses that will be open on the holiday.

Seeing a movie is a Christmas tradition for many. Les Miserables, Parental Guidance and Silver Linings Playbook open on Christmas. Coram Movieland will have their first showings at noon and continue until about 11 p.m. Port Jefferson Cinemas will start up the first reel at 12:49 p.m. and the last one will begin at around 9:40 p.m. Island 16 in Holtsville and AMC Loews in Stony Brook will be open as well.

The joke about 7-Eleven not needing a door that locks is accurate on Christmas. All local branches in Miller Place, and the two in Rocky Point (75 and 374 Route 25A) will be open 24 hours.

Craving some Christmas morning bagels? Brooklyn Bagels & Cafe will be open until noon.

With Waldbaums and Stop and Shop closed, supplies may be hard to come by. Handy Pantry in Rocky Point will be open in the morning.
