Long Island Man Arrested After Good Samaritans Pull Him From Burning Car

BREAKING: The 21-year-old driver overdosed on drugs before crashing into a wooded area Wednesday night, police say.

ROCKY POINT, NY – A 21-year-old man needed to be revived with Narcan after he crashed his car into a wooded area in Rocky Point Wednesday night, police said.

According to police, Corey Tierney, of Mount Sinai, was driving a 2003 Hyundai Sonata north on County Road 21, about a mile south of Route 25A, when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a wooded area at about 11:25 p.m. The car caught fire and two passing motorists, Claudio Gil and Margaret Ward, pulled Tierney, who was unconscious, from the vehicle.

Rocky Point Fire Department Rescue responded and administered Narcan to Tierney, who then regained consciousness. Narcan is used to reverse the effects of heroin and opiate overdoses.

Tierney was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. He is charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and alcohol.

Gil, 30, of Mount Sinai, and Ward, 51, of Rocky Point, were not injured.
