Man Found Burning, Dead on Long Island

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives and Arson Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man found in Manorville Thursday afternoon.

According to police, a passing motorist traveling on Wading River-Manor Road in Manorville noticed a fire on the side of the road near the intersection of Schultz Road and discovered it was a burning body.

Riverhead Town Police notified Suffolk Police after the passerby called 911 at about 1:45 p.m.

Police have not yet identified the man. The body, which was located within the Otis Pike Preserve, will be taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be performed.
