Man Killed in Rocky Point Crash

The single-car crash occurred Thursday morning, police say.

ROCKY POINT, NY – A 40-year-old Mount Sinai man was killed in a single-car crash in Rocky Point Thursday morning, police said.

According to Suffolk Police, Jeffrey Kitz was driving his 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer southbound on County Road 21, about one and a half miles south of Route 25A, when he lost control of the vehicle at about 11:20 a.m.

The SUV crossed the northbound lane and crashed into the woods, police said.

Kitz was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
