Miller Place based baseball team wins championship

The 11U Long Island Hurricanes travel baseball team based out of Miller Place won the Baseball Heaven National League Championship!

The 11U Long Island Hurricanes baseball team based out of Miller Place demonstrated what hard work and a true team effort can do! The Hurricanes had 3 must win games in a row. Needing to defeat the first place team in the final regular season game in order to get into the playoffs, the Hurricanes came up big and did just that! Their work wasn't done, having to now go through the first and second place teams to bring home the trophy (Long Island Titans and Long Island Junior Ducks), both large organizations with 100's of players that try out. How would a team that has been together since they were 6 years old and that has never had a tryout possibly win this championship? Well defense was the name of the game, committing no more than one error per game in each of the 3 must win playoff games. The pitchers really kept the defense on their toes, throwing strike after strike and keeping the other team off balance. In the post game meeting, Coach Mike was quoted as saying "all the hard work you guys put in since January 1st has paid off! Anything worth having in life will take effort, and you guys deserve this championship! Set goals and work hard to achieve them and you will have great success in baseball and in your life!"

Great job Hurricanes!
