For the 2012 Elections, voters in the Miller Place-Rocky Point Area will be deciding races on the state and federal level. Perhaps the hottest matchup, aside from the presidential race, is First Congressional District rematch between Rep. Tim Bishop, D-Southampton, and Republican and St. James businessman Randy Altschuler. On the state level. The state Senate race between incumbent Sen. Kenneth LaValle and Bridget Fleming is also an active one.

Voters will also decide the next Brookhaven Town Supervisor in November, after Mark Lesko abruptly resigned to run a regional think tank, Accelerate Long Island.
