MOUNT SINAI, NY — A fire-damaged home on Jessica Lane in Mount Sinai was demolished recently, marking an important step toward restoring the safety and appearance of the surrounding neighborhood, Town of Brookhaven officials said.

The property previously sustained significant damage after a fire and was deemed uninhabitable, and in the time following the incident, the structure became a source of concern for nearby residents and a blight on the community, according to officials.

“After the fire left this property unsafe and unlivable, it became a concern for the entire community,” Councilwoman Jane Bonner said. “With its demolition, we are turning the page and taking a meaningful step toward improving the quality of life for the surrounding neighborhood.”
