Police ID Man Who Died After Long Island Bar Fight
The incident occurred Saturday night in Rocky Point, police say.

A man is dead following a fight at a Rocky Point bar Saturday night.
Police were called to Rocky Point Ale House, located at 42 Broadway, around 10 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a disturbance at the location.
Upon arrival, officers observed 42-year-old Michael Murphy, of Rocky Point, “suffering from a medical event,” police said.

Rocky Point Rescue transported Murphy to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, where he was pronounced dead at 11:24 p.m.
Rumors have swirled that there was a shooting at the bar involving an off-duty police officer, but Suffolk Police told Patch there was no shooting.

“There was an off-duty officer at the location but at this point I don’t know what his involvement was,” a police spokesperson said.
Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the incident.
Rocky Point Ale House was formerly Daniel Carmody’s Public House. The name was changed when new owners took over the bar this summer.
