Police: Miller Place Woman Fatally Struck by Truck in Hit-and-Run

A Miller Place woman walking along North Country Road late Saturday night in Miller Place was fatally struck by a truck that then fled the scene, police said.

According to police, Tracy Mangino, 40, was walking east on North Country Road, east of Block Island Drive, when she was hit by an eastbound commercial, box-type truck.

Mangino was transported by ambulance to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, where she died of her injuries.

The investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has any information about the incident to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
