LI Man In Possession Of Child Pornography Indicted: Suffolk DA

The man downloaded photos and videos of children "suffering unspeakable sexual abuse," DA Raymond Tierney said.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A Ridge man was indicted after he was accused of downloading and storing images and videos of children being sexually abused on his personal devices, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said Monday.

Dominick Umbrino, 70, faces 30 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and 30 counts of possession of a sexual performance by a child; both felonies.

"Through the collaborative efforts of our law enforcement partners, we were able to arrest this defendant who is alleged to have downloaded and stored a significant amount of child pornography for his own sexual gratification," Tierney said in a news release. "Downloading and viewing depictions of children suffering unspeakable sexual abuse is despicable, and it creates a demand and market for the horrific trafficking of innocent children."

New York State Police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that Umbrino was using a web search engine to find material of children being sexually abused, authorities said. Police and the Suffolk DA's Office recovered multiple electronic devices from Umbrino's home, all belonging to Umbrino, investigators said.

Thousands of photos and videos of child sexual abuse were found on his devices, prosecutors said.
