Under the supervision of JAE’s STEAM teacher Ms. Sara Fisher, the students explored science through nature. They investigated which kinds of birds are likely to visit a bird feeder based on what they eat. In the activity, students first drew their own bird feeder design to attract a specific type of bird. Then they built a prototype of their bird feeder using available materials, including paper cups, plates, tin foil, string, tape, pipe cleaners and Popsicle sticks.

“The students will be keeping a close eye out their windows to see if any birds will be visiting their bird feeders,” Mrs. Jackson said.
