Students arrived for the day and were greeted with festive music and handouts, and raffles were sold including one for how many purple candies were in a jar. Lockers were decorated with Post-it notes containing motivational quotes, students created a public-service announcement on mental health and resources and health classes welcomed peer-to-peer presentations. Also, National Honor Society members and adviser and librarian Jessica Sciarrone set up a photo booth in the library, encouraging others to share in a special photo memory.
According to assistant principal Lauren Neckin, the planning and sharing were palpable throughout the day in hopes that students heard nothing but positive messages to make them feel special and loved, and to remind them that they are never alone.
