Rocky Point Man Arrested For Robbing 7-Eleven: Police

He punched a clerk in the face, knocking him unconscious, police say.

Police say they have arrested a man who robbed a Long Island 7-Eleven store last month.

Paul Mauro, 31, is charged with second degree robbery as well as an active parole warrant.

According to police, Mauro entered the 7-Eleven located at 1671 Route 112 in Coram on Feb. 26 at approximately 1:20 a.m. and approached the counter as if he was going to purchase merchandise.

When the clerk began to ring up the items, Mauro punched the clerk in the face knocking him down to the ground. The clerk hit his head on shelving and the floor, knocking him unconscious.

Mauro, of Rocky Point, then hopped over the counter and stole cash from the draw and other items before fleeing on foot, police said.

An investigation by Sixth Squad detectives led to the arrest of Mauro at about 1:50 p.m. Friday at the Sixth Precinct in Coram.

Mauro was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Saturday.
