Rocky Point Students Recognized By Town Board
Technology students were recognized for creating a prosthetic hand that was donated to a six-year-old Indonesian boy.

Rocky Point High School technology students were honored at a recent Town of Brookhaven board meeting and were presented with a proclamation from Councilwoman Jane Bonner. The students were lauded for their creation of a prosthetic hand that was donated to a 6-year-old Indonesian boy who was born with no fingers on his right hand.

Along with technology teacher John Schumacher, students Thomas Anzalone, Brendon Artzt, Jacob Bazata, Gavin Donovan, Gianna Imeidopf and James Prendergast were lauded by Councilwoman Bonner, who thanked them for taking on a challenge to improve the young boyβs quality of life.
βWe are grateful to Mr. Schumacher and these students for this project that will have a profound effect on a boyβs life,β Rocky Point School District Superintendent of Schools Dr. Scott OβBrien said. βThe enthusiasm and passion shown by this committed group is inspiring to others in our school district, learning that in our classrooms they too can make a difference in the global community.β
