Students are being introduced to the game and culture of ice hockey, compliments of the New York Islanders floorball program.

Rocky Point students are being introduced to the game and culture of ice hockey, compliments of the New York Islanders floorball program.

Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School physical education teachers Maria Amoscato and Joe Camarda signed up for the educational program touted as a safe and fun sport that promotes active movement, the enhancement of motor skills and teambuilding. The Islanders’ outreach program includes a curriculum, pinnies and brand-new equipment for the indoor program for students to learn and practice various ice hockey skills in their physical education classes.
“The Islanders truly support education,” fourth grade teacher Patricia Alberti said.
