Rocky Point Teen Spray Painted Swastikas on House, Wall: Police

An 18-year-old was arrested on hate crime charges Friday afternoon, police say.

A Rocky Point teenager was arrested Friday after he spray painted swastikas onto a Rocky Point home and a retaining wall in Rocky Point on Thursday night, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, around 9:40 a.m. Friday, Seventh Precinct patrol officers responded to a 911 call of graffiti on a vehicle and a Bobcat utility vehicle on Clio Road. Further investigation turned up more graffiti, including swastikas, in the area, police said.

Hate Crimes Unit detectives were notified and began an investigation. After a canvas of the area, detectives arrested Christopher Collins, of Freya Road, around 1:50 p.m. at his home, police said.

Collins spray painted swastikas on a house and a retaining wall on Garden Road in Rocky Point, police said. He also spray painted graffiti on a house on Locust Drive and on street signs on Locust Drive and Clio Road, police said.

Collins is charged with two counts of first degree aggravated harassment and five counts of making graffiti.
