Snow Total Estimates Rise; Winter Storm Warning Issued

Sixty degrees on Tuesday sounds pretty, pretty nice, but first we have to get through this pesky snowstorm.

Here's the latest on what you need to know about the approaching storm:

• A winter storm warning will be in effect for the northern half of Long Island from 5 p.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday. A winter storm watch will be in effect for the southern half of the island for that same timeframe.
• A total of 4-7 inches of snow is likely, with locally lower amounts near the immediate coast in the watch area due to rain mixing with snow.
• There is about a 10 percent chance of each of the following: eight inches or more in Farmingdale, nine inches or more in Islip and six inches or more in Westhampton.
