Sound Beach Man Killed in Nassau County Crash
BREAKING: A van and a box truck collided Monday morning, police say.

FREEPORT, NY – A 56-year-old man was killed when a van and a box truck collided on Sunrise Highway Monday morning, Nassau Police said.
According to police, Donald Curatolo, of Sound Beach, was driving a 2007 Ford E150 van west on Sunrise Highway in Freeport at 5:30 a.m. when his van struck a 2017 Chevrolet box truck at the intersection of Helen Avenue. The box truck, which was being driven by an unidentified 25-year-old man, was in the westbound left turn lane for Home Depot at the time of the crash, police said.
Curatolo was pronounced dead at scene. The sole passenger in the van, a 28-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, police said.

There were no other injuries reported. There appears to be no criminality in the crash at this time, police said.
