CARLE PLACE, NY — A routine traffic stop ended in the arrest of a Massachusetts man Wednesday after police discovered two switchblades and a loaded gun in the man’s truck, police said.
Nassau County police said 25-year-old Steven Raymond was driving on Old Country Road, about to merge onto the Northern State Parkway when he turned without using the turn signal on his black Chevy Silverado. Police then flashed the emergency lights, pulled the truck over and began a traffic stop, police said.
During the traffic stop, the gun and the knives were discovered, police said. Raymond, a Dunstable, MA resident, was arrested without incident and scheduled for arraignment Thursday, police said. Raymond is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, two fourth-degree counts of criminal possession of a weapon and multiple traffic violations, police said.
