The Nassau County Village Officials Association (NCVOA) held its Annual Meeting and Installation of Officers to elect and install a new slate of officers to lead the association for the 2026–2027 term. The NCVOA represents 64 incorporated villages across Nassau County and serves as a forum for municipal leaders to collaborate on issues affecting their communities and residents.

“As president, my priority is to ensure that the NCVOA provides village officials with the communication, resources, and educational programs they need to better serve their residents while protecting taxpayer dollars,” Hon. Steven Weinberg, NCVOA President, said. “At the same time, we will continue to be a strong voice for our villages by advocating for home rule, defending local decision-making, and addressing the legislative and policy issues that impact our communities every day.”

President: Hon. Steven Weinberg, Mayor, Village of Thomaston

Weinberg has served as Mayor of Thomaston, a village on the Great Neck Peninsula in the Town of North Hempstead, for 12 years. During his tenure as mayor, Weinberg's administration has worked on infrastructure and street lighting upgrades, drainage and capital improvement projects, and updates to the village code governing short-term rentals. He has worked as an attorney at Gottesman, Wolgel, Flynn & Weinberg, P.C. since 1987, with his practice focused on director and officer liability, fidelity, and surety law.

First Vice President: Hon. Paul Pereira, Mayor, Village of Mineola

Pereira has served as Mayor of Mineola since 2022, after previously serving as Deputy Mayor and as a village trustee for eight years. He has also taught history and government at Mineola High School, the same school he attended and graduated from, for more than three decades. Under his leadership, the village has focused on downtown revitalization and infrastructure investment, including securing state funding through the NY Forward program for downtown development and a grant for community center upgrades.

Second Vice President: Hon. Porscha Lyons, Mayor, Village of South Floral Park

Lyons serves as newly elected Mayor of South Floral Park, the smallest incorporated village by land area in New York State. She has been active in village government for a number of years, having previously served as trustee and Highway Commissioner before being elected mayor. Her administration has emphasized community engagement and public safety initiatives for the village's roughly 1,700 residents.

Treasurer: Hon. Randall Rosenbaum, Mayor, Village of Flower Hill

Rosenbaum has served as Mayor of Flower Hill, a North Shore village in the Town of North Hempstead, since 2022, after being elected following his prior service as Deputy Mayor and as a village trustee for eight years. Professionally, he has built a career in product marketing and management within the technology sector. As mayor, he oversees Flower Hill's roughly $4 million annual village budget, with recent priorities including road repairs, beautification projects, and maintaining fiscal conservatism while staying below the state property tax cap.

About the Nassau County Village Officials Association

The NCVOA represents 64 villages throughout Nassau County, which account for more than 12 percent of all villages in New York State and over 22 percent of state village residents. Many villages throughout Nassau County are larger than cities elsewhere in the state, making village residents comprise more than one-third of Nassau County’s population.

The NCVOA demonstrates that while challenges may evolve, the need for local villages to work together remains constant. Its history shows that collective effort is not just tradition but a proven way to deliver meaningful change for residents across Nassau County.
