Queens Man Arrested After Walking Behind Dunkin Counter To Make His Own Coffee, Hitting Employee: PD

WILLISTON PARK, NY — A Queens man is facing burglary and assault charges Friday after he got into a fight at a Williston Park Dunkin that began when he walked behind the counter and tried to make himself a coffee, police said.

Nassau County police said 25-year-old Queens resident Senai Haywood walked into the Dunkin on Hillside Avenue at 10:40 p.m. Thursday and was told by an employee that the store was closed. Ignoring the employee's demands that he leave, Haywood instead walked behind the counter and attempted to make himself a coffee, at which point the employee again told him to get out, police said. Police did not say whether Haywood was attempting to make a hot or iced coffee.

At this point, Haywood hit the 25-year-old Dunkin employee in the chest three times and fled, police said. The Dunkin employee refused medical treatment at the scene, police said.

As for Haywood, he was located soon thereafter on Mineola Boulevard and attempted to run away from police on foot, police said. Once police caught up to him, police said "a violent struggle ensued," in which Haywood started swinging his arms and trying to pull away from police. Eventually, police arrested Haywood, police said.

Haywood is now facing charges of second-degree burglary, second-degree assault, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest, police said.
