Mineola House Fire Leaves 1 Person Without Home: Fire Marshals

MINEOLA, NY — One person was forced from their Mineola home after a fire on Saturday, fire marshals said.

The Mineola Fire Department received the call at 2:25 p.m. and responded to the two-story home on Frank Avenue, the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.

The fire was contained to the second floor, and the resident self-evacuated, fire marshals said.

The fire was brought under control within 50 minutes with approximately 75 firefighters, according to fire marshals. One firefighter was evaluated, but refused medical assistance, officials said.

Fire marshals said the house is not habitable at this time and the resident has been displaced.

Mutual aid was provided by Albertson, East Williston, Williston Park, Hempstead, Garden City, Garden City Park, Westbury, Franklin Square, New HydePark, Carle Place, Manhasset Lakeville, Syosset fire departments and Nassau County Fire Marshal Drone Teams – all under the command of Ex-Chief Strauss, fire marshals said.

The Village of Mineola Building Department was notified, and the fire is under investigation by the NCFM and the NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad.
