The case, tried and decided in Mineola, involved weeks of threats, harassment and gun use before police recovered multiple firearms and false IDs and secured a jury conviction.
3. 22 Long Island hospitals recognized for heart, stroke care (newsday.com) — Mineola's NYU Langone Hospital — Long Island is among 22 Long Island hospitals honored by the American Heart Association for following strict, evidence-based heart and stroke care guidelines. The recognition highlights that local patients can expect timely, standardized treatment, alongside many other Long Island facilities that met multi-year performance benchmarks.
4. Atlantic Beach boy faces recurrent brain cancer with hope (liherald.com) — Mineola's NYU Langone doctors first discovered the brain tumor now driving 11-year-old Austin Neugeboren's long cancer fight. The Atlantic Beach sixth-grader has endured multiple surgeries, chemo, radiation, and clinical trials, yet still cracks jokes, attends Sunrise Day Camp, and works with rehab specialists as his family hopes he'll walk again in 2026 and welcomes community support through donations.
