• Mineola man facing arson charge after chemistry experiment leads to apartment fire (newsday.com) — A Mineola resident was arrested after a late-night chemistry experiment in his Lincoln Avenue apartment allegedly sparked a hallway fire that forced temporary evacuation of the building. Police say no one was injured, but chemicals and lab supplies were removed, and the 34-year-old now faces arson, reckless endangerment, and weapons charges, with arraignment set for Monday in Hempstead.
