NCPAL Great Neck Unit Volunteer Sunil Sani Named Among 2015 PAL Heroes

NCPAL Great Neck Unit volunteer Sunil Sani is among seven volunteers to be recognized as 2015 PAL Heroes.

Great Neck, NY; April 24, 2015 – The Nassau County Police Activity League (NCPAL) has named Great Neck Unit volunteer Sunil Sani among its 2015 PAL Heroes. He is among seven longtime volunteers to be recognized as heroes at the upcoming NCPAL Gala Award Ceremony taking place on May 1, 2015 at the Coral House in Baldwin. NCPAL, with the help of thousands of volunteers, operates 29 units in 40 different communities providing 35,000 young people opportunities to participate in athletic, arts and crafts and educational programs.

“Sunil has set himself apart with his exceptional service and long-term dedication to the Great Neck units, the youths who comprise it and their commitment to the Police Activity League philosophy: It is better to build youths than to mend adults,” said Nassau County PAL President Frank DiVittorio.

Sani began his PAL journey in 2000 as the coach of his oldest son’s soccer, basketball and baseball teams and later for his youngest son through the spring of 2010. In 2002, he joined the Great Neck Unit PAL Board and became the unit’s soccer commissioner. At the time, Great Neck had over 700 boys and girls enrolled in its soccer program. He became co-Treasurer for the Great Neck Unit in 2009 and continues to serve in this role today.

“Being a PAL Volunteer takes a lot of hard work and dedication to ensure the experience of the youth involved,” Sani said. “It’s never been about me, it’s been about the children. I’m thankful just for the experience and for the opportunity to work with them and on their behalf each and every day.”
