• Fire Destroys Montauk Restaurant Overnight (easthamptonstar.com) — A devastating overnight fire destroyed the longtime restaurant site at 435 East Lake Drive in Montauk, just hours before it was to reopen as Maison Close Montauk, though everyone inside escaped safely. Local fire departments from Montauk and neighboring hamlets battled the blaze, which rekindled twice, and town fire marshals are still investigating the cause as the building has been deemed irreparable.
   

• Marine Veteran runs 66 miles for veteran suicide awareness (news12.com) — A Marine Corps veteran kicked off a 66-mile awareness run right here in Montauk, heading west to Patchogue to spotlight veteran suicide and mental health. Eric D'Arce, a suicide survivor himself, shared his recovery story and urged fellow veterans to seek help, finishing at his local VFW after 14 hours on the road.
