2. New Montauk Mansion Sells for $23 Million, Setting a Non-Oceanfront Record for the New York Beach Town (mansionglobal.com subscription) — A newly built waterfront mansion on Montauk's Fort Pond Bay just sold for $23 million, setting a new record for the town's most expensive non-oceanfront home. The 10,000-square-foot house features seven bedrooms, a 56-foot infinity pool, spa, rooftop lounge, and private beach path. The deal, which closed at full asking price in just three days, underscores how hot Montauk's luxury market remains.

3. A 'Very Different' School Year (easthamptonstar.com) — Families in Montauk and nearby districts will see a more normal school year as New York relaxes Covid rules, dropping 10-day quarantines and most routine testing. Montauk's superintendent says he welcomes the looser protocols but will keep watching for new variants, while East Hampton, Springs, and Sagaponack leaders also prepare to reopen with fewer masks, more in-person learning, and continued basic health precautions.

4. Hamptons Real Estate Market Data – Week of 9/8/2026 (hamptons.com) — Homebuyers and sellers in Montauk are part of a quieter Hamptons market this week, with just 28 properties going into contract from Westhampton to Montauk, down sharply from last year. Dollar volume also slipped year over year, though it's still above 2024 levels, and inventory in the region ticked up slightly as 34 new listings hit the market. Luxury deals over $20 million remain in the mix.
