Man Nabbed Driving Drunk in Montauk: Police

The driver failed to signal numerous times, police said.

MONTAUK, NY - A Douglaston, NY man was charged with driving drunk in Montauk, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Bert E. Rodov, 34, was arrested on June 20 at 2:51 a.m. after he was seen heading east in a 2015 Mercedes Benz on South Elmwood Avenue.

While traveling south on South Embassy Street, Rodov failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of South Elmwood Avenue, police said; coming to a complete stop in the middle of the intersection, he then failed to use his righthand directional and failed to stop at the stop sign at South Embassy Street and South Elmwood Avenue, police said.

He then continued west on South Emerson Avenue then again failed to use his righthand directional while turning north on South Emery Street, then again failed to use his righthand directional while making a righthand turn eastbound onto South Elmwood Avenue, police said.

Rodov had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, slurred speech, bloodshot, glassy eyes, and was unsteady on his feet; he consented to and performed poorly on all standard field sobriety tests administered, police said.

He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, police said.
