Montauk Fire Department Hosts South Fork Fire Police: Photos
A guest speaker detailed the challenges of patrolling Montauk's harbors.
MONTAUK, NY — This month it was the Montauk Fire Department's turn: On Tuesday evening, the South Fork Fire Police Association, with member departments from Eastport to Montauk, was invited by Montauk Chief Vincent Franzone to hold their monthly meeting and dinner in the MFD meeting room.
SFFPA President Derrick Edgar, Vice President Nancy Lynch, Secretary Donna Bennett and Treasurer Bob McDonnell took turns giving their monthly reports and updates.
This month's guest speaker was Timothy Treadwell, senior harbormaster from the East Hampton Town marine patrol, who spoke about the challenges and distribution of responsibilities in Montauk's harbors. One of the questions he threw out to the audience was how many boat slips there are for the marine patrol to cover in Montauk. The answer? About 1,400.
